About Me
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience, a native Spanish speaker, and bicultural. As a Maryland certified clinical supervisor, I have provided clinical supervision for an outpatient mental health center, and been field instructor for graduate MSW and undergraduate BSW students. Experience in clinical supervision, coaching, and leadership development, enhance my clinical work. My practice focuses on late adolescents, adults, and families with specialties in addressing family conflict, relationships, life transitions, and trauma. Areas of expertise include child and family dynamics, immigration and cross-cultural issues, LGBTQ+, and the intersection of psychology and spirituality.
I obtained my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Barry University in Miami Shores, FL, and my Masters in Social Work at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. Post-graduate studies include training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well as in family and expressive therapies at the Philadelphia Child and Family Therapy Training Center and at the Starbright Training Institute in Fairfax, VA.
After completing my graduate degree, I provided school-based child and family therapy, followed by a career in county social service programs as a therapist, clinical supervisor, and manager at Montgomery County's Child and Adolescent Outpatient Behavioral Health Services, and Director of the Local Behavioral Health Authority/Deputy Chief of Montgomery County's Behavioral Health and Crisis Services.
